Green by Iceland

by | Apr 30, 2021

The Iceland Renewable Energy Cluster is a partner of Green by Iceland.

Green by Iceland is a platform for cooperation on climate issues and green solutions. The role of Green by Iceland is to fight climate change locally and globally and to promote the export of Icelandic green solutions while supporting Iceland‘s reputation as a leader in sustainability. Green by Iceland is housed within Promote Iceland. Domestically, Green by Iceland facilitates cooperation between the business sector and the government to meet the goal of carbon neutrality by 2040.

Iceland has been harvesting renewable energy for more than a century. Today, all local electricity and district-heating needs are powered from renewable resources, including hydroelectric and geothermal. By harnessing domestic energy resources, Iceland has dramatically increased its living standards and created tremendous opportunities for energy-dependent industries to produce goods more responsibly.

Green by Iceland recently released three videos, one on geothermal energy, another focusing on hydro, and a third about Iceland’s overall state of green power in Iceland:
