Reykjavík Geothermal acted the role of Lead Technical Advisor for a company known as Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, on the acquisition of the Coso Geothermal Power Holding in Inyo County, California.
For Reykjavík Geothermal, the new year marked the start of a new consulting project in collaboration with three other well-known entities in Iceland: the law firm BBA//Fjeldco, Verkís Engineering, and Iceland Geosurvey. The client is the Comoros Government where the project entails the preparation of the legal framework for geothermal and other renewable energy sources in Comoros. The Comoros is a volcanic archipelago just past of Africa’s eastern coast.
In the end of 2018, Reykjavík Geothermal began a collaborative consulting project with the Icelandic companies BBA//Fjeldco law firm, Verkís Engineering and Iceland Geosurvey on a project based in Djibouti sponsored by the African Development Bank.
BSI carried out the annual audit of the Reykjavik Geothermal QHSE Business Management System on the 29-31 of October 2020. Assessment standards were ISO 14001: 2015, ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 45001: 2018. Three opportunities for improvement were observed.
The Iceland Geothermal Cluster was founded in 2010 to strengthen competitiveness, innovation and increase value creation within the Icelandic geothermal energy industry.
Reykjavík Geothermal’s Abaya and Tulu Moye concessions have up until now been covered by the same exploration license. The Abaya concession is located in the SNNPR (Southern Nations and Nationalities People’s Region) region, and Tulu Moye in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. The work has now been completed to split this exploration license into separate licenses for each region.
