Reykjavík Geothermal (RG) has appointed Jóhanna Harpa Árnadóttir as Director of Environment and Stakeholder Relations, Egill Agnar Októsson as Business and Finance Specialist, and Dr. Tingting Zheng as Geoscientist. The appointments are part of RG’s continued growth and expansion as the company strengthens its team and advances its geothermal development projects in Iceland and internationally.
Reykjavík Geothermal is an international geothermal development company specializing in the development and financing of geothermal projects. Since its establishment in 2008, RG has been involved in geothermal projects in approximately 50 countries as a developer or advisor, building extensive experience and a strong international network across the geothermal sector. Today, the company is advancing projects in Iceland, the Canary Islands and the Middle East.
Earlier this year, Reykjavík Geothermal completed a financing round to support the continued development of its project portfolio, including the Bolaalda power project in Ölfus, which was placed in the utilization category of the Master Plan for Nature Protection and Energy Utilization this summer. Exploration drilling also began in Tenerife this spring, where Reykjavík Geothermal is leading the development of a project that could represent an important step towards greater energy security and a more sustainable energy future for the Canary Islands.
Jóhanna Harpa Árnadóttir appointed Director of Environment and Stakeholder Relations
Jóhanna Harpa brings extensive experience in sustainability, project management and stakeholder engagement from roles at Icelandair, Landsvirkjun and Norðurál. She has also worked as an independent consultant and adjunct lecturer at Reykjavík University.
Jóhanna Harpa is an engineer and holds a Master’s degree from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
At RG, she will lead the company’s environmental, social and quality activities and help integrate sustainability and stakeholder considerations throughout its projects. She will also play a key role in supporting the development of RG’s geothermal projects through stakeholder engagement and effective communication.
Egill Agnar Októsson appointed Business and Finance Specialist
Egill joins Reykjavík Geothermal from McKinsey & Company in Denmark, where he worked on projects across the United States, the Nordic countries and Iceland.
Prior to McKinsey, Egill worked at Expectus and Evolv in the fields of business intelligence and automation.
Egill holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland.
At RG, he will support business development, financial analysis, investment assessment and project financing in Iceland and internationally.
Dr. Tingting Zheng appointed Geoscientist
Tingting specializes in hydrogeology, reservoir engineering and geothermal resource assessment.
Before joining Reykjavík Geothermal, Tingting worked as a Reservoir Engineer at Arctic Green Energy in Reykjavík, where she contributed to geothermal development projects and international advisory assignments. Prior to that, she spent several years at a public geological institute in China, working on geothermal and groundwater research as well as environmental studies.
Tingting has also been actively involved in international geothermal cooperation. She received a fellowship to attend the GRÓ Geothermal Training Programme and has contributed to the China–Iceland Geothermal Training Programme, as well as participating in the work of international geothermal organizations.
Tingting holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Iceland, a Master’s degree in Groundwater Science and Engineering, and a BSc in Hydrology and Water Resources Management from the China University of Geosciences.
At RG, she will support the geoscientific assessment and development of the company’s projects. Her expertise in hydrogeology, reservoir engineering and geothermal resource assessment will further strengthen RG’s technical capabilities and support informed decision-making throughout all stages of project development.
