Reykjavík Geothermal (RG) has appointed Auðbjörg Ólafsdóttir as Director of Communications and Marketing and Hermann Baldursson as Chief Financial Officer. The appointments support the company’s continued growth and expansion as it advances geothermal development projects in Iceland and international markets.
Auðbjörg Ólafsdóttir Appointed Director of Communications and Marketing
Auðbjörg brings extensive experience in leadership, communications, marketing, investor relations, strategy and organizational development.
Most recently, she worked as an executive advisor and leadership coach with the international consulting and leadership development firm FranklinCovey. Prior to that, she served as Vice President of Culture & Communications at Controlant, where she led sustainability, communications, learning and culture initiatives during a period of rapid growth and international expansion.
Before joining Controlant, Auðbjörg spent eight years at Marel as the Global Director of Communications, leading investor relations as well as internal and external communications on a global scale. During her tenure, Marel operated in more than 30 countries and was publicly listed in both Iceland and the Netherlands.
Auðbjörg has also worked as an economist at Íslandsbanki, for the European Commission Representation in Iceland and Norway, and as a journalist and news editor and journalist for Reuters and Viðskiptablaðið.
She holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Iceland and a Master’s degree in Economics from Curtin University in Australia. She is also a certified coach and qualified educator.
In her role at Reykjavík Geothermal, Auðbjörg will lead the company’s brand development, communications, marketing and international visibility efforts. She will also support engagement with investors, partners, governments and other stakeholders across the markets where the company operates.
Hermann Baldursson Appointed Chief Financial Officer
Hermann Baldursson has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of Reykjavík Geothermal and will lead the company’s financial operations during its next phase of growth.
He brings extensive experience in corporate finance, project financing and advisory services, particularly within the energy sector, and has worked on geothermal projects around the world while advising Icelandic energy companies.
Prior to joining Reykjavík Geothermal, Hermann served as Director of Finance and Operations for Baseload Power Iceland for four years. Before that, he spent more than a decade providing corporate finance and advisory services to a broad range of clients through Centra Corporate Finance, where he was a co-founder and Partner.
Hermann has also worked as a management consultant at Capacent, a representative for the City of Reykjavík, a business journalist at Viðskiptablaðið and a specialist at the Reykjavík Tax Office.
He holds a BSc degree in Economics from the University of Iceland and an MBA from Michigan State University in the United States.
As CFO, Hermann will be responsible for the company’s financial management, project financing, investor relations and the continued development of the financial framework required to support Reykjavík Geothermal’s growth and international operations.
