Reykjavík Geothermal lýkur fjármögnunarlotu að upphæð allt að $20 milljónir
Reykjavík Geothermal (RG) hefur lokið fjármögnunarlotu B (e. Series B) að upphæð allt að $20 milljónir, jafnvirði um 2,4 milljarða. Fjármögnunin var leidd af Innviðum fjárfestingum II slhf., innviðasjóði í stýringu hjá Summu rekstrarfélagi hf., auk þess sem núverandi hluthafar tóku þátt. Þá standa yfir viðræður við meðfjárfesta um þátttöku í fjármögnuninni.
Fjármögnunin mun standa undir áframhaldandi þróun félagsins á jarðhitaverkefnum, á Íslandi, en einnig vinnur félagið að verkefnum á Kanaríeyjum og Mið-Austurlöndum. Um er að ræða fyrsta áfanga fjármögnunar félagsins en áætlað er að heildarumfang fjárfestinga RG í þeim verkefnum sem nú eru í þróun hjá félaginu nemi a.m.k. 80 milljörðum á næstu 4 árum, að mestu á Íslandi. Undirbúningur að næstu fjármögnunarlotu er nú þegar hafinn.
Fyrirtækjaráðgjöf Fossa fjárfestingarbanka var umsjónaraðili fjármögnunarlotunnar og ráðgjafi Reykjavík Geothermal. Lögfræðileg ráðgjöf var í höndum Elements by BBA/Fjeldco og Juris lögmannsstofu.
Um Reykjavík Geothermal
RG er sérhæft leiðandi jarðvarmaþróunarfélag með yfir 15 ára alþjóðlega reynslu í ráðgjöf og þróun jarðhitaverkefna. Helstu verkefni RG í dag eru á Íslandi, á Kanaríeyjum og Mið-Austurlöndum. RG hefur síðan árið 2018 beint sjónum sínum að Íslandi og unnið að þróun jarðhitaverkefnis sem kennt er við Bolaöldu í Ölfusi. Í júní 2024 mælti verkefnastjórn rammaáætlunar með því verkefnið yrði sett í nýtingarflokk. Við Bolaöldu er fyrirhuguð jarðhitavirkjun með 100 MW raforkuframleiðslu og 133 MW hitaveitu og er áætluð heildarfjárfesting í verkefninu allt að 60 milljörðum. Unnið er að umhverfismati vegna verkefnisins og gert er ráð fyrir að tilraunaboranir eigi sér stað á fyrri hluta ársins 2027.
Þá er RG með í þróun þrjú jarðvarmaverkefni á Kanaríeyjum, annars vegar á Tenerife og hins vegar á La Palma. Þetta eru samstarfsverkefni með DISA, stærsta fyrirtæki Kanaríeyja og einn stærsti dreifingaraðili orku á Spáni, auk þess sem yfirvöld á Tenerife eru meðfjárfestir í verkefnum á eyjunni. Búið er að tryggja rannsóknarleyfi ásamt styrkjum frá Evrópusambandinu fyrir allt að EUR 58 milljónir til rannsóknarborana, og boranir eru nýlega hafnar.

Reykjavík Geothermal completes a financing round of up to USD 20 million
Reykjavík Geothermal (RG) has completed a Series B financing round of up to USD 20 million (approximately ISK 2.4 billion). The round was led by Innviðir fjárfestingar II slhf., an infrastructure fund managed by Summa rekstrarfélag hf., with participation from existing shareholders. Discussions are ongoing with co-investors regarding their potential participation in the financing.
The funding will support the continued development of the company’s geothermal projects in Iceland, while RG also advances projects in the Canary Islands and the Middle East. This financing represents the first phase of the company’s broader capital plan. RG estimates that total investment in the projects currently under development will amount to at least ISK 80 billion over the next four years, primarily in Iceland. Preparations for the next financing round are already underway.
Fossa Investment Bank acted as financial adviser and placement agent for the Series B financing, advising Reykjavík Geothermal throughout the process. Legal counsel was provided by Elements by BBA/Fjeldco and Juris Law Firm.

These are joint ventures with DISA, the largest company in the Canary Islands and one of Spain’s largest energy distributor. The authorities of Tenerife are also co-investors in the projects on the island. Exploration licenses have been secured, along with European Union grants of up to EUR 58 million for exploratory drilling, and drilling activities have recently commenced.
