St. Vincent

The Reykjavik Geothermal drilling project in St. Vincent and the Grenadines was the first of its kind in the country. Therefore, the project was setting many precedents for environmental and social (E&S), and health and safety (H&S) standards.

Since the geothermal drilling in the Caribbean island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines kicked off in May 2019, two exploration wells have been drilled with the third currently in the active drilling phase.

St. Vincent Geothermal Company Limited (SVGCL) and Jardboranir hf. (Icelandic Drilling Company, IDC) have today, November 29th 2018, signed a drilling contract for drilling 4 wells in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

In a region which has struggled to get its geothermal ducks in a row, everything appears to be coming together in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, for what could be the first geothermal project built in the Caribbean in 30 years.
