Ethiopian Government and Reykjavik Geothermal Announce 1000 MW Geothermal Power Agreement
The Government of Ethiopia and Reykjavik Geothermal (RG) today announced an agreement to build and operate up to 1000 MW of geothermal power in two 500 MW phases. Reykjavik Geothermal, a US – Icelandic development company, has been working with the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCO) and various government ministries for the past two years to finalize the power purchase agreement.
ICEIDA and the European Delegation Rwanda Continue Geothermal Cooperation
During the first half of 2013, ICEIDA, along with geothermal consultants from Iceland Geosurvey (ISOR), cooperated with the European Union Delegation in Rwanda and the Great Lakes Energy Authority (EGL) in the preparations of a regional geothermal exploration project in the Bugurama/Ruzizi region in Burundi/Rwanda/DRC.
RG fulfills ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements
on environmental management and OHSAS 18001 on occupational health and safety management. The systems were audited by British Standards Institution (BSI).
RG Atlanta and New York offices pass BSI audits on ISO 9001
British Standards Institution (BSI) conducted Stage 2 audits at Reykjavik Geothermal’s Atlanta and New York offices on 23 and 24 June, respectively. They found no non-conformities, and both offices will be recommended for ISO 9001: 2008 certification.
Reykjavík Geothermal and RusHydro Agree to Cooperate in Geothermal Energy Projects
Reykjavík Geothermal announces that it signed a cooperation agreement with JSC RusHydro which defines the terms of cooperation in geothermal power projects.
