Early in the first quarter (February 2021), both the Tulu Moye and Corbetti geothermal projects have received their first payments for the drilling grant established by the Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility (GRMF) for Eastern Africa.

Since the approval of the Geothermal Proclamation Amendment by the Government of Ethiopia in May 2020, Reykjavik Geothermal is pleased to announce that the Corbetti Geothermal project has reached effectiveness! All of the project’s condition presidents have been fulfilled, and the project is ready to move forward at full steam ahead.

Corbetti Geothermal PLC is very pleased with the results of the Pre-Qualification for the provision of drilling services and material for 26 geothermal wells in the Corbetti caldera. The companies participating the ongoing tender represent some of the strongest drilling companies in the world and the result shows strong international interest in geothermal development in East Africa.
